As our new gallery gathers momentum we're delighted to be able to invite you to a special day of events in the gallery.
For the morning session, with the current exhibition of landscape photography of present day Somme and Mametz providing the context, poet and anthologiser Tony Curtis has selected from the writings of Robert Graves, David Jones and Siegfried Sassoon, Kate Roberts, Hedd Wyn, David Jones, Wyn Griffiths, R.S.Thomas and Bertrand Russell and the art of Paul Nash, David Jones, E.H. Shepherd, Lucy Kemp-Welsh and Frank Brangwyn, with archive material from his own family history in an accompanying slide presentation to reflect upon the 'War To End All Wars', his own family story and his work and concerns as a contemporary poet. The afternoon session is spent with Peter Cattrell and Aled Rhys Hughes, established photographers who, moved by their own interest and personal family history, decided to apply photography as a means of creatively excavating the meaning and value of looking back through the here and now.
